Released in the year 2015) is the perfect office printer for small businesses especially when you do less printing and photocopying and also when you need document scanned for mailing purposes. It is effective and time saving.
This printer will save you the time of going crowding at the cyber café for photocopying and printing few sheets, though it only prints in black, I don’t mind at all because I get my print solution quick. Saves you the time of refilling inks like in the case of HP Deskjet 1200 series or Epson with ink head cleaning issues.
HP LaserJet p1100 series printer boasts of printing speed of upto 18 A4 pages per minute, 19 letter size pages per minute with a tray capacity of 150 A4 sheets manual duplexing when using the printer driver.
When using genuine HP Cartridge, you’re assured of excellent print quality; with FastRes 600 and FastRes 1,200 setting that provides 600 dots per inch (dpi) and 1,200 dpi effective print quality. It gets great support from Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 both 32 bit and 64bit Operating Systems. With Mac OS X v10.4 and above and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 printer port, LAN and wireless printing mode enabled.
The printer provides convenient access to the print cartridge and to the paper path through the print-cartridge door. The print cartridge is also easy to install and its paper tray can be adjusted with one hand. You also get an N-UP printing which means you can print more than one page on a sheet with EconoMode printer driver feature to save you some tonner. When using this printer, you can also easily clear paper jam then continue with printing where it stopped.
This printer though very effective, it relatively expensive to run because its tonner costs around Ksh6000 to Ksh8000 yet you don’t get a lot of prints with that tonner, you may run out of tonner without a warning, which means you may end up lacking tonner and at the same time you don’t even have money to buy a new one. This may tempt you to go for cheap refill tonners that reduces the lifespan of the printer when encouraged on daily use. This has led to many Kenyans not buying this machine hence opting for inkjet, low cost of production printer like Epson which has flooded the Kenyan market because of its cheap inks and also prints in full color unlike HP LaserJet Pro1100 that print only in black.
This printer is good but not for everyone who wants a fully featured printer that provides full color print support, it also has a very complex scanner feature that not anybody can understand. In this era of digital color printing who can do with only black and white printing? Well, it’s a tough question!
